Bathroom Design

I am looking for a new color scheme/theme for my bathroom. It is yellow and currently has white accents. Unfortunately, I have learned the hard way that white shower curtains and rugs don't work for me. I live on the farm and my hubby often comes in with dirty hands and it ends up on my curtain. So, I am looking for a darker patterned look to hide some of said dirt. My style is eclectic, but if I had to pick a style that I generally use I would say modern country is my overall style. So, here's the problem. I am drawn to this contemporary shower curtain from Walmart, $16.

The problem is that this doesn't really fit with the country style of my house. So here is my thought. I am thinking of doing it myself in a scrappy way...I know you are probably thinking scrappy?!? How did you get that out of this contemporary shower curtain. Well I think I can take a twin sheet. Cut it to size and then patch on the rounded squares of fabric and mimic the lines with stitching...I am thinking something a little like this quilt from www.filminthefridge.com except with some contrasting thread for the stitching and a little more loose.

Either way it turns out, it will be better than what I have. Happy decorating!
